NEW iPHONE/iPAD APP TACKLES EVENT DISCOVERY WITH “PANDORA FOR EVENTS”

San Jose, California – June 8, 2012 – San Jose-based Eventster will launch on Friday, with the best event discovery app ever made for the iPhone and iPad.

“Eventster plugs you into stuff happening in your city… no matter where you live,” said Eventster CMO Luke Stangel. “Our goal is to get you out of the house and having fun with other humans.”

Eventster delivers 600,000 events in nearly every city in North America (as well as the biggest cities in Europe), using data from StubHub-owned event listings provider Zvents. People upvote and downvote individual events, helping crowdsource the best events in their region. Eventster’s predictive engine will eventually suggest new events, based on your stated preferences.

Events are a major industry. eMarketer estimates North Americans bought $10.3 billion worth of concert tickets in 2011. The nation’s largest event promoter, Live Nation/Ticketmaster sold 232 million tickets last year.

Still, this major industry experiences major pain points with event discovery. Roughly 40 percent of Live Nation’s ticket inventory goes unsold, representing a roughly $2.3 billion annual problem for them. A 2011 Live Nation report showed 50 percent of consumers said, “I didn’t know about the show, or I would have gone.”

We’re currently in the peak season for events, with the majority of the country’s largest outdoor events happening between now and Thanksgiving.

“Events are perfect for mobile,” Stangel said. “Open up the app, and within seconds, you’re checking out the most anticipated live events happening in your city this weekend. Our promise: Never be bored again. Or, you know, become a little more interesting than you were before.”
